Common Questions

About Pilgrims on the Camino

I created Pilgrims on the Camino after walking many Caminos de Santiago and experiencing how powerful the connections between pilgrims can be.

On the Camino, people from all over the world share food, pain, laughter, and silence — often in English, even when it’s not our first language.

This community exists to keep that spirit alive: mutual help, respect, and shared experience, both on and off the Way.

Pilgrims on the Camino is independent, non-commercial, and guided by the values of the Camino itself.

General Advice

Best time of the year to walk the Camino de Santiago ... is when you can do it!

What to pack for the Camino (real pilgrim experience): less is more!

Common mistakes first-time pilgrims make: force your body to reach that high mountain, that town, to follow that other pilgrim, etc.

Walking alone vs walking with others. Each one has to choose. Most walk alone every journey, but share dinner, accommodation, etc.

Advice here comes from lived experience, not from guidebooks. The Camino is like life ...
